About the Award-Winning Musical Theatre Design: Clay Moulded is the interior design of a musical theatre in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Clay covers the walls and ceilings, and over 30 tonnes of the material were applied by hand. The pattern of the main hall is continuous and runs from one end of the space to the other. A seven stage coating process was developed for the project, including spraying, patterning, drying, scrubbing, glazing and conservation. The walls and ceilings can open and close to control sound reflections, so the space adapts to concerts, plays and meetings. The auditorium seats 700 people.
This palette has a cozy feel, evoking comfort and energy.
